The Kulliyyah Management Team led by the Dean met with the State Assemblyman for Gombak Setia, YB Muhammad Hilman Idham at his service centre on 19 April 2019. He was briefed on the Kulliyyah’s University Community Engagement (UCE) projects. Many joint venture projects between KIRKHS and the State Assemblyman office are in the pipeline.
A newly established research unit under the Mosque Curriculum Development Flagship known as Deviant Teachings Study group had a meeting with the Research and Development Unit, Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah (PAID) Gombak on 17 April 2019. The team was given a briefing on the deviant teaching cases in Gombak.
Team members for Mosque Curriculum Development Project (Flagship 1) received officers and staff members from Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah (PAID) Gombak at Al-Tabari meeting room, KIRKHS on 15 April 2019. The purpose of this meeting is to coordinate activities for the upcoming joint-event which will be held at the Senate Hall, IIUM on 20 April 2019.
The Mosque Curriculum Development team (Kulliyyah’s Flagship 1) had successfully conducted its first Focus Group Discussion with selected members of Masjid Al-Syakirin, Gombak on 14 April 2019. This is part of data collection activities for Flagship 1 to understand issues and needs of the people in Gombak.
Team members for the Kulliyyah’s Flagship 2 on Empowering Youth held its first meeting with the village headman of Kampung Sungai Pusu, Gombak on Saturday, 6 April 2019. Activities for the SWC Project which is one of the projects under Empowering Youth Flagship will be centred at this village.
On 7 April 2019, a group of students from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology are engaging with villagers in Social Entrepreneurship Project. This community engagement project is held at Kampung Setia Jaya, Setapak. A lecturer from the Department, Associate Professor Dr. Rohaiza Rokis is supervising the team.
On Saturday 6 April 2019, a group of Post-Graduate students from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology who are attending class of Technology, Environment and Society played their roles as environmental stewards, clearing the river trails in IIUM Gombak campus. This positive value activity under the Gombak Project is supervised by Dr. Norazlin Tajuddin.
Students who are attending LE 4501 class (Language for Occupational Purposes) this Semester participated in a community engagement project in Gombak on 6 April 2019. Students from various Human Science Departments engaged in various activities with the Orang Asli community at Kampung Bukit Kala, Batu 12, Gombak.
The team members for the Kulliyyah’s Flagship 1 – Developing Mosque Curriculum together with the Kulliyyah Management Team visited Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah (PAID) Gombak on 2 April 2019. The purpose of the visit is to coordinate activities which will be conducted by the Flagship 1 team throughout the month of April.
On 19 March 2019, the Orang Besar Daerah (OBD) Gombak, Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Raja Dato’ Hj. Wan Mahmood Bin Pawan Teh visited IIUM. He was received by the Honorable Tan Sri Rector and the Kulliyyah Management Team as well as the task force members for the Mosque Curriculum Development Project. During the visit, His Excellency Tan Sri had proposed the formation of Steering Committee to oversee the progress of the Kulliyyah’s Flagship project on the mosque curriculum development.
