Dr. Merah Souad and Dr. Tahraoui Ramdane had conducted two sessions of training for teachers, which were on 28th December 2019 and 5th January 2020. It was conducted at ELAF Services SDN BHD, which was located at StarParc Point, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. The participants consisted of teachers and volunteers who were teaching in refugees’ school in Kuala Lumpur. There were 45 participants involved in the first session, whereas 31 participants involved in the second session. The medium of instruction was English and Arabic.
Objectives of the training include:
- To train teachers / volunteers who are teaching in Schools for refugees in Kuala Lumpur
- Teachers/Volunteers should be able to master teaching methods deemed essential in teaching students coming from conflict zones.
- To design two models for “Training Teachers and the Provision of Education for Refugees: For integration and for repatriation
- To produce two research papers related to Education in emergencies
- To attend and present in two international conferences
The training program was organized through a Somalian sister who worked in a UN funded school for refugees that was managed by Jawdah Group SDN BHD. Dr. Merah Souad had been training the teachers there voluntarily over the past few years.
