What is Malay cuisine?
Malay cuisine is the traditional food of the ethnic Malays of Southeast Asia, residing in modern-day Malaysia, Indonesia (parts of Kalimantan and Sumatra), Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand, Philippines (mostly southern) as well as Cocos Islands, Christmas Islands, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
Malay food is strong, spicy and aromatic, combining the rich tastes of the many herbs and spices commonly found in Southeast Asia. It is one of three major cuisines in Malaysia, and together with Chinese and Indian food, continually delight visitors to the country with its incredible variety and flavors.
