CFS to plant the “seeds” for humanity

GAMBANG, 14 August 2020: IIUM must move together in one direction regardless of its campuses and the new dimension of education needs to be translated in a very meaningful way, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said during his session with the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), IIUM Gambang campus yesterday (13 August).

He said that CFS needs to plant the ‘seeds’ from the foundation level and it is an obligation for all IIUM community to give full commitment in preparing the students in all aspects.

“CFS is established to help the university prosper in the sense that we get the right persons for the right programme, of course it is important for CFS to actually build a strategy so that these individuals can grow to become useful human beings, in which, that is our forte,” the Rector said.

“It is important for the students to understand the purpose they are  here, which is not just to get good marks and graduate and become a successful persons but also to give back to the society, to build a religion and prosper in a very enlightening way to give back to the future,” he added.

According to the Dean of CFS, Mr. Murshid Kassim, the centre is delighted with the Rector’s vision and mission towards the betterment of the university.

He added that the centre has reviewed the education syllabus by having only one year of foundation programme instead of two years as previously which has helped in making IIUM at par with other institutions in Malaysia.

“Besides the academic, we will integrate all the elements of being the ‘insan sejahtera’ at least the target at the Foundation level are met in which it is part and parcel of the syllabus that we are improving now.

Regarding methods of deliveries, we recently managed a comprehensive review of the education in CFS and we have made sure that the elements intended for nurturing our students will be the main target and at least for students to meet the minimum requirement.”

In conjunction with the visit, the Rector officiated the Baiah ceremony for new students’ intake for 2020/2021 session with more than 3,000 students have now successfully become part of IIUM.

The event which took place at Al-Khawarizmi Hall, was attended by the university’s management committee members and university officials along with 400 students. The remaining of the students joined the session via live streaming on YouTube platform. ***
