correspond directly to the priorities of UNESCO and the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 through the integrated disciplines of anticipation, futures studies, futures literacy, and sustainability studies for humanity\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47670a6 elementor-widget class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Projects corresponding to UNESCO priorities for 2018-2021<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u2018Shaping the future of international agenda on education for sustainable development\u2019<\/strong><br \/>IIUM is the Secretariat for RCE Greater Gombak \u2013 a global network of Regional Centre of Expertise on Education Sustainable Development practitioners, under the auspices of United Nations University.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018Multidisciplinary approaches in addressing complex challenges\u2019<\/strong><br \/>The projects combine Futures Studies with the studies of sustainability, humanity, and well-being. IIUM has been advocating a transdisciplinary approach in all its functions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018Futures-oriented understanding of the dynamics at work, based on the approach of sustainability science, to assist countries in the design and review of inclusive evidence-based public policies\u2019<\/strong><br \/>Through the RCE functions \u2013 collaboration of experts, citizens, and decision-makers in discussing philosophical and strategic questions as related to the future, focusing on questions of desired and alternative futures, and hidden assumptions these futures are based on.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8216;Use of foresight and anticipation to fulfill its function as a global laboratory of ideas by mapping out current and future needs, and to design innovative proposals for the development of public policies&#8217;<\/strong><br \/>Through fostering an investigation into the future of learning, shifting the debate from knowledge societies to learning and healing cultures, thereby building cycles of learning into futures thinking in the context of ensuring well-being, sustainability, and humanity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d2ca617 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d2ca617\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Projects corresponding to the medium-term strategy for 2014-2021<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a41b1b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a41b1b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8216;Contributes to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, and sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication, and information&#8217;<\/strong><br \/>With the concept of RCE as the main approach, all the projects are designed to address the concerns with education for sustainable development (ESD) as the main tool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a09220b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a09220b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-89d6faf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"89d6faf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">IIUM has adopted the 17 SDGs as its mission to \u2018humanise higher education through maqasid shariah and sustainable development\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Thus, all functions and operations are SDG oriented. All the projects incorporate SDG 4 (inclusive quality education for all) as the main focus.
