Educational Planning and Research Division (EPRD) of Ministry of Education (MOE) organised a workshop to harmonise the resolutions of two important seminars held in 2018, the Finland Education Seminar and Values Education (Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan/FPK) Seminar, organised by MOE and Kulliyyah of Education respectively. The first workshop involving various divisions from the Ministry of Ecucation (MOE) and the secretariat of the FPK Seminar, Kulliyyah of Education (KOED), IIUM was held on 27th and 28th February 2019 (Wednesday – Thursday) at Hype Motorsports Nilai Hotel. A second workshop was hosted by the Kulliyyah of Education, IIUM on 20th and 21st March 2019 (Wednesday – Thursday) at Kulliyyah of Education. Both workshops were attended by representatives from MOE and KOED.
The first workshop organised by EPRD commenced with presentations on the seminar resolutions by Puan Rahayu Jaapar from EPRD for Finland Seminar and Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim for FPK Seminar. After that a discussion was held to examine the areas of improvement from the presented resolutions. Suggestions for improvement were presented to Dr. Hj. Ahmad Rafee Che Kassim, Director of EPRD by the participants. As a follow up to the first workshop, the Kulliyyah of Education hosted the second workshop to prepare the Proposal for Follow Up of the Seminars for the direction of Malaysian education. The proposal suggested improvements in four areas namely, (i) the philosophy of education, (ii) curriculum, (iii) teacher training and (iv) infrastructure and quality assurance.
