The Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan (FPK) for IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam, Bangi was conducted on 1st until 2nd October 2019 (Tuesday – Wednesday). The ToT workshop was organised by Centre for Teaching Thinking (CTT), Kulliyyah of Education (KOED), IIUM as part of KOED’s FPK flagship project. The workshop was held at Kulliyyah of Education and was attended by 25 lecturers from IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam Bangi, and one from IPGM. The objectives of the workshop were to revisit FPK and to share the concept of Sejahtera Education so that IPG can plan on the improvement of its implementation in schools.
The ToT began with Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak’s talk on FPK and Sejahtera Education followed by a discussion led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suhailah Hussien on how the Malaysian curriculum assists in realizing FPK and some of its challenges. The afternoon session continued with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Mazwati Mohd Yusof’s session on Hikmah Pedagogy as a means to realise one of the aspirations of FPK. The second day of the ToT began with Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim moderating a practice session of Hikmah Pedagogy with the IPG lecturers. Next, Prof. Dr. Noorlide Abu Kassim delivered a session on assessment and the ToT was concluded with a reflection of Hikmah Pedagogy and its assessment led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Mazwati Mohd Yusof.
In conclusion, the objectives of the workshop were successfully met, which were to revisit FPK, examine its challenges and identify some of the ways that can be used to improve the implementation of FPK in schools. A meeting will be organised by IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam to discuss two matters; to assist IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam Bangi in reviewing the current courses to introduce the new undergraduate courses replacing TITAS and Hubungan Etnik, and to develop a module for training for FPK and Sejahtera Education in schools. The Kulliyyah will also work towards formalizing this collaboration through a clear agreement between the two parties.
