Activity: Speaker for Plenary Session 2, under the theme of “Climate Justice at the Heart of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities”

Speaker: Professor Sohail Inayatullah (UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies, IIUM)

Background: The Forum has been hosted since 2011 to realize the vision of a human rights city inherited from the May 18 Democratization Movement in 1980, and it has successfully served as a focal meeting point for multiple stakeholders. The Forum is co-hosted by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO. This year, recognizing climate change as one of the biggest threats to human rights and a sustainable future, the theme of the Forum is “Climate Crisis and Human Rights” whereby the aim is to comprehensively identify the human rights issues linked to climate change, share experiences and good practices, and seek guidelines to protect human rights on climate change.
