A Malay manuscript from Sumatera Island attracted the attention of the flagship. Why? Stay tuned. The manuscript starts with 30 pages of medicinal content, followed by 30 pages of house building, 30 pages of boat building. Interestingly, at the end of the manuscript, it reverts to medicinal content and presents a method claimed by the author as “like what has been practised in the West”. The method is likely explaining about arm-to-arm vaccination which was founded by Edward Jenner in 1796 for smallpox. Have a read through the method. What do you think?
